Special City Council Meeting

Mayor Jack Durney has called a Special City Council Meeting to be held immediately following an already announced City Council Workshop at 7 pm, on Monday November 17, 2014.

Mayor Durney stated, “We have had two public hearings at which council members and the public asked questions regarding the budget. Following those, I presented a balanced budget to the Council to review and they have had opportunities to ask questions of me or department heads or to ask them at subsequent council meetings. It’s time to make a decision and adopt a budget so that we can move forward to govern.”

The Council called the 7 pm workshop to further discuss the Mayor’s budget which calls for a 4% utility tax increase on water/sewer/stormwater bills to continue essential services. For the average customer, the increase will amount to an extra $3.20-$4.00 per month.

The budget as presented is extremely tight and includes no cost of living increases over the two year period and a decrease of 7 full time positions through attrition, which is a 25% staff reduction since 1995.
