Arbor Day Celebration 2019
The Tree City USA program has been greening up cities and towns across America since 1976. This nationwide movement provides communities with the tools, knowledge and support to assist in developing and managing our urban forestry programs.
More than 3,400 communities have made the commitment to becoming a Tree City USA. Each has successful achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four fundamental goals of sound urban forestry management:
- maintaining a tree board or department
- having a community tree ordinance, and
- Establishing a financial commitment to establish and maintain our urban forest.
Hoquiam is proud to be celebrating it’s 11th consecutive year as a Tree City USA Recipient. The purpose of Hoquiam’s Urban Forestry Program is to maximize the aesthetic, environmental and economic benefits that trees provide to city residents and visitors by preserving, managing and enhancing existing trees and other vegetation and promoting the reforestation of the urban area, through an active integrated program with community support and participation.
Join us as we celebrate Arbor Day 2019 at the Hoquiam Timberland Library on Wednesday April 17 at 3:30 PM. Let’s make 2019 Hoquiam’s the best Arbor Day Celebration yet!
