Hoquiam Building Department
The Hoquiam Building Department is committed to providing our community and our residents with safe places to live and shop for generations to come. Our friendly staff stands ready to provide you the assistance you deserve with your building, land development, zoning and planning projects.
A building permit gives legal permission to start a building, improvement, alteration or repair project in accordance with the building codes.
Our codes were developed over a long period of time by vigorously investigating past mistakes. The City has adopted the 2015 International Building Codes as the model code. The permitting process allows us to review your plans and make a determination as to whether or not you risk repeating mistakes made by others in the past.
Planning and Development
The City of Hoquiam seeks to assist developers and citizens in guiding growth and development for a 'Sustainable Hoquiam'. We can answer your questions regarding the Comprehensive Plan, zoning, land use, subdivisions, critical areas and environmental review, historic preservation, urban forestry and economic development.
